Manychat vs Chatfuel: test the same channel, trigger and handoff

Manychat and Chatfuel are candidates for automating parts of a messaging conversation. A fair comparison uses the same channel, entry event, customer question and human handoff. A polished demonstration on a different channel is not equivalent evidence. Manychat and Chatfuel

Our recommended starting point is one recurring inquiry that already creates work. Define the information the customer expects and the minimum question needed to help them continue.

Separate initiation from conversation handling

A comment, direct message and website-originated message are different entry events. Confirm the exact trigger in both proposed setups rather than assuming all social automation behaves alike.

Once the conversation starts, evaluate what the customer receives and what happens when the request falls outside the prepared answer.

Requirement Common acceptance test
Entry event Intended account and channel can initiate the flow
Initial response Delivers the promised information without irrelevant friction
Qualification Asks only what is needed for the next action
Exception Recognizes a request outside the prepared path
Human takeover Agent receives context and owns the next step

This table deliberately avoids unverified yes/no claims. Record the plan and evidence beside your own results.

Try three difficult messages

Use “I am already a customer,” “that answer does not apply to me” and “I need a person.” Each should reveal whether the flow can leave its expected path.

Next, have the customer return after a delay. Check what the agent sees and whether automated activity conflicts with the human response.

The best pilot outcome is a useful, short exchange followed by a clean handoff where needed. A higher count of automated messages is not itself a better customer experience.

Compare billing definitions, not old price snippets

The Manychat pricing page reviewed here uses active-contact allowances. Chatfuel's current proposal should be checked for its applicable channel, included usage and team access. Use each provider's current definition rather than treating superficially similar units as interchangeable. Manychat pricing and Chatfuel pricing

Estimate normal activity and a campaign peak, then include any channel-related charges. Check whether the trial configuration matches the plan you intend to purchase.

Choose from the tested flow

Give greater weight to the tool that supports the required entry event, makes exceptions understandable and lets the team maintain the flow. A product's broader marketing position is less important than those demonstrated requirements.

Include respond.io when multi-agent conversation ownership is the central problem. If website visitors are the main audience, compare Tidio and Crisp separately. Use the social inquiry handoff as the process shared across the shortlist.
